Writing Opportunities for the Savannah Community
Our creative writing workshops support writers at every level and talent and from all backgrounds.
Participants will explore essential techniques of the genre through analysis of published works, various writing exercises, and group discussions. Each student will receive personalized feedback from a seasoned writer enabling them to develop new skills and to complete a piece of longer-form writing by the course's end.
The workshop promotes individual productivity within a nurturing and collaborative environment. Students will emerge feeling more confident in their writing and connected to a supportive community of fellow writers. Ultimately, students will have a stronger sense of their own voice and the unique stories that they may create.

About Us
Savannah Writing Workshops, established in 2025, aims to provide the greater Savannah community with an inclusive learning environment for writers and creators.
The workshop is facilitated by C.M. Bright, a professional educator, writer, and editor, who has published in various national magazines and journals. She is a graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop, where she received her M.F.A. in fiction and studied with Marilynne Robinson, James A. McPherson, Kevin Brockmeier, Chris Offutt, Margot Livesey, and other renowned authors. There, she received the Teaching-Writing Fellowship and the Lakeside Fellowship. C.M. also attended The Bread Loaf Writers' Conference as a Fellow. Additionally, she studied screenwriting at the UCLA Professional Program and worked for several years in production at HBO Films. Having recently relocated from Los Angeles to Savannah, C.M. is eager to develop a unique creative resource for her new community.
